Ground - based near - infrared imaging of the HD 141569 circumstellar disk

چکیده
We present the first ground-based near-infrared image of the circumstellar disk around the post-Herbig Ae/Be star HD141569A initially detected with the HST. Observations were carried out in the near-IR (2.2 µm) at the Palomar 200-inch telescope using the adaptive optics system PALAO. The main large scale asymmetric features of the disk are detected on our ground-based data. In addition, we measured that the surface brightness of the disk is slightly different than that derived by HST observations (at 1.1 µm and 1.6 µm). We interpret this possible color-effect in terms of dust properties and derive a minimal grain size of 0.6 ± 0.2µm for compact grains and a power law index for the grain size distribution smaller than −3. Basic dynamical considerations are consistent with the presence of a remnant amount of gas in the disk.

Inner Rim of a Molecular Disk Spatially Resolved in Infrared Co Emission Lines
We present high-resolution infrared spectroscopy of the Herbig Ae star HD 141569 A in the CO v = 2 − 1 transition. With the angular resolution attained by the adaptive optics system, the gas disk around HD 141569 A is spatially resolved down to its inner-rim truncation. The size of the inner clearing is 11±2 AU in radius, close to the gravitational radius of the star. The rough coincidence to t...
متن کاملThe Circumstellar Disk of HD 141569 Imaged with NICMOS.
Coronagraphic imaging with the Near-Infrared Camera and Multiobject Spectrometer on the Hubble Space Telescope reveals a large, approximately 400 AU (4&arcsec;) radius, circumstellar disk around the Herbig Ae/Be star HD 141569. A reflected light image at 1.1 µm shows the disk oriented at a position angle of 356&j0;+/-5&j0; and inclined to our line of sight by 51&j0;+/-3&j0;; the intrinsic scatt...
متن کاملHST / NICMOS 2 observations of the HD 141569 A circumstellar disk ?
We report the first resolved scattered light images of the circumstellar dust disk around the old Pre-Main Sequence star HD 141569 A. The disk seen in HST/NICMOS2 images shapes a bright annulus inclined at 37.5◦ ± 4.5◦ from edge-on. This ring peaks at 325±10 AU from the star with a characteristic width of ∼ 150 AU. At 1.6 μm, the dust grains scatter a total flux density of at least 4.5 ± 0.5 mJ...
متن کاملHigh-resolution Optical and Near-infrared Imaging of Young Circumstellar Disks
In the past five years, observations at optical and near-infrared wavelengths obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope and ground-based adaptive optics have provided the first well-resolved images of young circumstellar disks which may form planetary systems. We review these two observational techniques and highlight their results by presenting prototype examples of disks imaged in the Taurus-A...
متن کاملDetection of Extended Thermal Infrared Emission around the Vega-like Source HD 141569.
We report the detection of extended IR emission at 10.8 and 18.2 µm around the Vega-like source HD 141569. Mid-IR imaging with OSCIR on Keck II shows emission from dust extending out to 100 AU from the B9.5 Ve star. Our modeling of the dust places an upper limit of approximately 2 µm on the diameter of the mid-IR-emitting particles if they are Mie spheres of astronomical silicates. Comparison o...
